I love summer. And one of the best parts of summer is August. Thats right, the entire month of August. I just love it! August is a bit less temperamental than June and July. Its days can be hot, but its evenings often bring with them a cool refreshing treat that neither June nor July offer. The consistency of sunshine in the weather forecast practically leaves meteorologists with nothing to do.
Sun. More sun. A bit warmer. A bit cooler. Bliss! But with August comes the eventual appearance of September. To me, this instinctively sends the thoughts of cooler days and an increased likelihood of rain racing through my brain. Not good. And so the tempest rages!
Sunshine and crystal blue skies fight off the advances of rain and murky gray skies. I know there are those cheering for September. Lawns that have cured to a wonderful shade of umber and sidewalks that ache for a cleansing shower applaud the march of time and urge the coming of the month that drives kids to the classrooms and me to the confines of my house. You might not notice this battle, this tempest that occurs every August, but it exists. Believe me, it exists.
